10 Ways to Prevent Stomach Cramps
Below are some methods to avoid stomach cramps:

1. Stomach cramps can be avoided by keeping stress under control and eating healthy food.
2. Get wise to water: If you are having stomach cramps due to constipation then try to drink as much water as you can.
3. Avoid cola drinks and coffee as these drinks contains caffeine which is a diuretic and can quickly lower your body’s water content.
4. Stay clear: If you have a viral infection or food poisoning, it’s better to stick with fluids such as water until your distress subsides.
5. Try to avoid drinks containing artificial preservatives.
6. Limit you lactose: If you are lactose intolerant then even a glass of milk can make you undergo stomach pain or cramps. In order to check whether you are lactose intolerant or not.
7. Stop consuming dairy products for three days then add a glass of skimmed milk to your diet followed by dairy products like cheeses and nonfat yogurt.
If you start feeling cramps again then you may have found the culprit. Now in that case you can consume a product called Lactaid. It’s a product that contains digestive enzymes lactase which helps in digesting dairy products. Lactaid is available in liquid form or tablet.
8. Try some Miller’s bran: In order to get rid of the stomach cramps doctor would advice you to start adding fiber supplement or a quarter cup of Miller’s bran to your regular oatmeal breakfast.
9. Increasing the intake of fiber could put an end to diarrhea, constipation and can also help to control diverticulitis and irritable bowel syndrome. If you’ll suddenly increase your fiber intake without giving your body time to adjust to your new diet then you might have to under go diarrhea and gas but in case you start getting relief from the cramps but still suffers from gas problem then try adding another form of fiber like pre made fiber bars to your diet.
10. Relax: It is believed by some doctors that the main cause of cramping is stress. It’s vital to keep your stress levels under control . For that; you can either learn biofeedback or go for a walk at least thrice a week. Biofeedback is a technique that involves a use of monitor that shows you the level of your muscular tension and guides you on how to relax yourself. You can ask your doctor to refer you to a professional who can teach you this technique.
