Benefits of Iyengar yoga
The term Iyengar yoga was coin by the Belur Krishnamchar Sundararaja Iyengar who born in a poor Iyenger family, lived in the
Belur village in India. The yoga was the result of comprehensive research of the Veda which is an ancient religious book. The book speaks about lifestyle of all powerful –Gods and Goddess. This yoga exercise is in practice from last 60 year. It is, of late, considered the best meditation to relive from mental and spiritual tribulations.
Iyengar yoga has brought many prestigious awards for Mr. Iyengar. And due to the success of Iyengar yoga, in 2004, Time Magazine honored him as 100 most influential people of the year. His book “Light On Yoga” was later on published in English which known as “The Bible of Yoga”.
Let’s know how Iyengar yoga works spiritually.
1- The exercises of this yoga are based on eight limbs of the raja yoga. The first limb is known as Yama which means mentally and physically abstention from the five things. These five things are violence toward oneself and other people, violence toward carvings, violence toward sexual intercourse, violence toward anything that is not true and last is violence from the attachment to material things.
2- The second limb is known as Niyama which includes five studies or observances. These five observances includes satisfaction with what you have, clearance of body and mind, psychological control and penance, and last one is introspection and surrender yourself to the Supreme being.
3- Third one is Asana that talks about position and posture. It is basically used to relax the body muscles.
4- Forth one is Pranayama that refers to direct control to your breathings which is an import part of Iyengar yoga program. Among other important limbs are Pratyahara and Dhayana. Pratyahara is used for quieting mind where as Dhayana refers to believe in oneness of the Supreme Being.
5- As a matter of fact, this yoga exemplified by the use of straps, belts, benches, sandbags and confine to aid by performing 200 asanas or postures. Another equally useful part is 14 pranaymas. In this process less stress is put on the muscular efforts and more weightage is given to searching an ideal posture.
Apart from stress and health benefits Iyengar yoga is also used to cure some severe and grave medical condition like back pain, arthritic, carpal tunnel syndrome, multiple sclerosis and depression. Further more, unlike from other conventional exercise or Yoga, Iyengar yoga can also be practiced by pregnant women as a regular exercise. Don’t worry!! Yes it is cent percent safe for the baby inside!
The Iyengar yoga benefits a pregnant woman in many ways such as it provides you better body posture, boost up blood circulation, given better concentration and make your muscles stronger. Strain and stress which are common happenings for a pregnant woman can be avoided by the Iyengar yoga. In addition to that it helps to get rid of blue vibes and makes you feel a whole lot better.
