Would you feel the least bit surprised to learn that over 90% of regular computer users complain of eye problems? Would it startle you to discover that eye problems and related health issues increase in direct proportion to the number of hours a person spends in front of a computer screen? Would you feel stunned by a similar finding that at least 50% of children who regularly use computers at both school and home complain of eye strain and headaches? Would your jaw drop as a medical correspondent reported the community of physicians and ophthalmologists has coined the term “Computer Vision Syndrome” (CVS) to represent the constellation of symptoms associated with long hours staring into a video display terminal? Didn’t your mind and body report similar findings long ago?

Leading contributors to Computer Vision Syndrome

Researchers say that Computer Vision Syndrome resembles carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive stress injuries in the workplace, because it develops as a result of persisting in the same tasks over and over again throughout the workday. CVS grows more acute the longer you sustain your activity. More specifically, CVS grows more severe the more you focus your eyes according to the cursor, moving them back and forth across the screen, and then moving them from printed material on your desk back to your screen. The images on your screen change as you type, forcing your muscles and sensory receptors constantly to adapt and adjust.

Also corroborating your experience and common sense, researchers found that working at your computer challenges your eyes considerably more than working from a printed page, because your screen flickers imperceptibly, and changes in ambient lighting alter your perception of the screen’s contrast and your eyes’ corrections for distortion and glare. Naturally, the problems become more pronounced if you already are near-sighted or suffer astigmatism. If you should wear glasses while you work but you forget, or if your prescription for glasses or contact lenses is more than two years old, you are adding even more strain to all things ocular. Age also aggravates the problem, because your eyes’ lenses become less flexible as you survive beyond forty, impairing your ability clearly to see things within your arms’ reach. Ergonomics also influence the severity of your CVS: If you have placed your screen too far below or too far above your natural eyeline, you are straining not only your eye muscles but also the muscles in your neck, shoulders, and back.

The symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome may already seem very familiar to you: blurred or double vision, eye irritation and redness, severe headaches, shoulder and back pains that seem to extend from the base of your neck all the way down your arms and all the way down to the small of your back.

Easy remedies for Computer Vision Syndrome

First, when you visit your primary care physician, ask him to do a routine eye test—the one with progressively smaller letters on each successive line. Of course, he does not specialize in eye problems, but he is qualified to tell you whether or not you need further treatment. If you do, your primary care physician probably can refer you to a colleague whose work he admires. When you visit the ophthalmologist, tell him the nature of your work and the specifics of your complaints, asking if specially tinted or glare-reducing glasses will help.

Then, make some simple but important changes in your office environment: First, quit settling for the default settings on your computer. Customize the brightness, contrast, and font size to your own specifications. Then, rearrange your desk. Kinesiologists say your screen should rest just below your eye level, and you should set it approximately two feet from your face. The distance not only optimizes your vision but also protects you from radiation, and it assures you will not have to crane your neck or squint to see clearly. Then, set-up a document holder next to your screen, so that you will not have to look up and down as you revise and edit documents.

With your desk optimized, you can shift your attention to the lighting. Try putting a glare filter or privacy protector over your screen, adjusting it for optimal focus. However, you should pay more attention to ambient lighting. If you work under fluorescent lights, they probably create glare that limits your efficiency rather than enhancing it. Ask if you can dim the fluorescents or use a desk lamp that distributes light evenly across the top of your desk. If neither of those options seems viable, see if you can shade your screen from the glare so that enhanced contrast makes your documents more legible. While you work at your newly upgraded desk, give your eyes regular breaks. Take a minute every twenty minutes to look around and also to close and rest your eyes. If you find that eye drops help soothe your tired eyes, use them—but sparingly.

Finally, if you have children who use computers nearly as much as you do, make all the same adjustments in their work spaces that you have made in your own.

If you need discounts on contact lenses, use an 1800 contacts coupon code for the best rate discounts.

For many people the day begins by looking themselves in the mirror and seeing dark circles under their eyes. Before you can begin applying a remedy, you should become aware of the cause of your dark circles. There are several reasons why a person might have dark circles under her eyes. Dark circles under the eyes can be caused by illness, allergies, genetics, or sleep deprivation. Depending upon which of the causes you think might be the culprit the remedy you choose will vary.

Sleep Deprivation

During sleep, fluids are pulled from the blood into the tissue. Upon waking in the morning, these fluids are re-assimilated into the body. Sleep deprivation makes it more difficult for the body to re-assimilate these fluids. If your dark circles are caused by sleep deprivation, the easiest solution is to get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.

Allergies/ Illness

For people who suffer with severe allergies, typically the last thing they worry about are dark circles under the eyes. However, some people find that dark circles are the only (or one of few) reactions they suffer from due to their allergies. To get rid of dark circles under the eyes caused by allergies, you should talk to you allergist to find out how best to control the effects of your specific allergy. If you have dark circles due to an illness, you should concentrate on getting healthy instead of the dark circles under your eyes.

Genetics

Deoxyribosenucleic acid or DNA, is the programming language that tells our bodies how to act, look, function, and react. For those that suffer from dark circles under the eyes due to their DNA, you are stuck with them.

You are probably wondering when we are going to get around to talking about something helpful. Well, wait no more. In all of the above scenarios, the solution is cause based, but the following solutions are symptomatic solutions.

Treatment

Often times, dark circles are associated with puffiness under the eyes. To reduce the puffiness under the eyes use an astringent to help minimize the swelling. Cucumbers contain a naturally occurring astringent; this is why so many people use sliced cucumbers over the eyes. Another option is to use a product that is not typically associated with eye puffiness…hemorrhoid cream. If already use this product for its original purpose, please be sure to purchase an additional tube and keep the two separate.

Ice cubes wrapped in a dampened paper towel placed under the eyes for 5 to 10 minutes will help reduce any swelling or puffiness. Washing your entire face with cold water will also help in the same fashion. You can also purchase over the counter eye creams that are designed to help with this problem. Eye creams will help reduce any swelling or puffiness as well as hydrate the skin upon which it is applied giving it a bit more elasticity.

The concept of reducing the puffiness under the eyes that gives the appearance of darkness is one in which your goal is to tighten the skin. This is why almost any treatment that will constrict the skin are used, things like astringents or cold compress.

The final solution is one involving appearance. Yes ladies, this means make-up. If your genetic design leaves you with deep-set eyes, you should use lighter colors instead of dark. To help eliminate the appearance of dark circles, the same concept will apply. A bit of concealer or base will help to change the color under your eyes to lighten the color.

Many people tend to notice their dark circles more than anyone else ever would. Some of the best advice you can ever receive is to not let yourself become overly concerned with the circles under your eyes. It can be difficult to look at yourself every morning and see the same problem. However, instead of worrying about the symptoms (dark circles) you should be more concerned with the cause. If it is an illness or lack of sleep causing your dark circles, you will be better served taking care of the cause rather than treating the symptoms.

Although the condition normally affects people at their 60s, this can occasionally happen at any age, but rarely. In the Western world, it is the most common cause of blindness and in the UK around 500,000 people are thought to be affected by AMD.

The macula is a small area in the retina that contains special cells that are especially sensitive to light. The macula enables people to see fine details clearly and is essential for the healthy workings on the eye. This type of vision impairment leads to central vision lost and does not affect the peripheral vision.

Types Of Age Related Vision Impairment:

This condition affects around 20 to 25 million people worldwide, half a million of which are thought to reside in the UK. There are two types of age related macular degeneration. The first type is know as wet macular degeneration and the second type is know as dry macular degeneration which is also the most common type. In 9 out of 10 cases, dry macular degeneration is responsible for age related sight impairment and possible blindness.

What Are The Suggested Treatments:

Age related sight impairment will usually occur in both eyes, although one eye may become affected earlier than the other. A regular eye test which is recommended every year to two years for the over 60s will help diagnose the condition, otherwise if you suspect you might be suffering from age related sight impairment you should book an appointment to see your local opticians ASAP. Your optician will likely suggest a few alternative treatments from medicines to laser eye surgery based on your particular circumstances and the type of age related macular degeneration you have.

Common AMD Questions and Answers:

Q. Can AMD be prevented?

A. Means to reduce the likelihod of macular degeneration vision loss include wearing sunglasses, eating a balanced diet and not smoking.

Q. What are the symptoms of AMD?

Vision troubles are multiply at contagion extent in our culture. The industry of eye care is a billion dollar industry. The main tools of this industry are spectacles, contact lenses, eye surgical treatment.

Every year patients of eyesight problems are increasing. Usually eye specialists just provide patients with stronger & stronger spectacles. Mostly all the adults over the age of 65 suffer from the problem of Cataracts. The surgeons do not remove it until and unless it gets worsen which is not the right way. Patients suffering through macular degeneration & glaucoma are also not treated immediately; there treatment is being delayed because of which cases of attention deficit disorder is increasing year after year.

In a general view of the people the believe is, eye problems are just a normal way of life’s process, but this is the wrong perception there eyesight can be improved. Most of the time people are provided with corrective lenses they are sold at a fake bill. Corrective lenses are no appropriate solution for the eye problems.

Let’s see for the treatment of glaucoma& nearsightedness:-

Now for nearsightedness the eye specialist will provide you with glasses and in return will charge payment from you, and after few years you have to come back to him for new and increased number glasses, and will again charge money from you.
If you are suffering from glaucoma, you approach to the clinic and you may get eye drops to steady the pressure 7& are told that you will possibly be on these eye drops the rest of your life.

We should try to see that what are the causes because of which the eyesight problems occur:-

Nearsightedness problem according to a survey we came to know that ninety percent accountants suffers from the problem of nearsightedness as compare to the ten percent of farmers .this happens due to the difference in there focus of work. The brain says “if you craft me to act to work all day that is also so close, you will have to give up something” and that something is the ability to see at a distance, so this theory is not generally taken into consideration by most eye doctors.

Now if we take the problem of glaucoma after the age of 50 most of the people suffer from high intraocular borderline pressure which is glaucoma symptoms. Doctors delayed the treatment and say first we will examine and then start the treatment due to which the eye problem gets worsen. So appropriate reasons should be known for the eyesight problem.
