Eggs – A Key to Losing Weight
Egg diet does not consist of eggs only. But, it involves the eating of a large part of our protein requirement through the
consumption of eggs. We can find the roots of egg diet present in the initiation phase of Atkins Diet because eggs are considered as the healthiest method of consumption of high protein and are basically a small crab diet which does not add any saturated fats. The diet consisting of eggs is rich in important proteins and vitamins. These consist of all the important amino acids present in right proportions and thus are an excellent source of total protein.
Eggs are important source of various vitamins such as:-
1. Vitamin E.
2. Vitamin D.
3. Vitamin DB12 and
4. Vitamin B2, in addition to this, it also contains iron.
The egg yolks are rich in iron in a similar way as that found in red meat. This iron present in the egg yolks is easily taken up by our body. A number of minerals and vitamins are present in the eggs in large amounts.
Vitamins such as B6 and B1, zinc and phosphorus are present in eggs, they are considered as the best source of choline. Choline is basically a substance which is used in the transportation of fat throughout the human body. It acts as the building block for the production of phospholipids that are the chief structural constituents of the cell membranes.
A majority of the minerals and vitamins that are present in the eggs are located in its yolk. However, the egg white also contains good amount of vitamins and a small amount of fats which are not free from cholesterol. However, the main disadvantage of eggs is that they are the chief source of cholesterol’s.
We should keep in mind that:-
1. Eggs are basically a low calorie diet having almost no saturated fats.
2. On the other hand the egg whites are free from fats.
Earlier it was a told by a number of nutritionists that we should restrict our egg diet but over the past few years this statement has been reversed. Studies have proved that heart diseases are not caused by the consumption of eggs which was earlier believed to be. Eggs are an ideal source of proteins. Before the introduction of supplements egg was considered as the ideal protein diet of all the boxers, athletes and body lifters. Some of them would just blend milk and a raw egg and drink this mixture. Some would take it in the form of bread and omelet along with milk which is also rich in protein.
Cholesterol is found in huge amount in foods like eggs and offal like kidneys and livers. In other food items its content is very less. This cholesterol does not contribute greatly to that present in the blood and does not increase its levels. But a person having elevated levels of blood cholesterol is always advice to stop the consumption of eggs. We should not cook eggs with products rich in saturated fats such as cheese and butter. This on the whole we can say that the consumption of eggs is highly nutritious and healthy and thus in every way can help us in reduction our weight and thus is recommended by trainers to all the trainees going for a weight loss program.
