The Importance Of Digestion And Weight In Human Body
According to the Oxford dictionary, the word digest means breaking down the food into smaller parts or components. This breaking down into smaller components is a vital procedure because it is by this process only that the nutrients in the food are separated and the waste material is also processed by large intestine and the small intestine. Digestion is a phenomenon that takes place every time we have some food. It starts right at the time when saliva in the mouth mixes with the food. Saliva too has a very important role to play in the digestion of the food, which is described as following.
Some of the nutrients contained in the food are separated in the mouth itself. Saliva mixes with the food thus making it soft and easy to digest. The munching action of our different types of teeth with the salivary action results in a mixture which is much easier to handle by the interior parts of the body such as the intestines, stomach etc.
If this process of digestion does not take place properly, several problems ranging from simple stomachaches to complex gastrointestinal diseases can occur. It is during this process that various digestive juices are secreted from various other interior parts of the body the purpose of which is to help in the digestion process.
The food that is digested helps in fulfilling the requirements of the body such as repair of wear and tear and developmental activities such as building up. However, in order to make this developmental procedure effective, exercise along with proper intake is necessary. Improper or no exercise causes accumulation of the food in the form of fat. This accumulation occurs in places like the stomach, buttocks. And in extreme cases, even on the face. Hence, it can be easily said that digestion and weight are correlated.
Gaining weight is relatively a much easier process than losing weight.
Exercise does not necessarily refer to those exercises, which are rigorous in nature. However, for the children it is preferred that they indulge in activities, which involve running, jumping and other more active forms of exercise. These days even weight reduction has become a trend and everybody especially ladies of all ages are adamant on losing weight without thinking whether they really need to go for weight reduction procedures. This trend is of course not a healthy trend and leads to degeneration of health in those cases where weight reduction is not necessary.
