Natural Way of Treating Hangovers
A veisalgia or hangover is defined as an unpleasant physiological condition which arises due the heavy intake of drugs, mainly
alcoholic beverages. The main characteristics of hangover are thirst, dysphoria, lethargy, and noise, sensitivity to brightness, nausea and headache. Acetaldehyde intoxication, deficiency of vitamin B12, dehydration and Hypoglycemia are the main reasons of hangover. Hangover generally lasts up to one or two days since we last consumed alcohol. Around 30 to 30 percent of alcohol drinkers are resistant to such condition. The main reason why a hangover occurs is due to the withdrawal of ethanol.
There are a number of symptoms which are associated with hangover caused by alcohols. Some of them are lack of deepness perception, irritability to brightness, sensitivity, trouble sleeping, unpredictable motor functions, anxiety, and noise, difficulty in concentrating, hyper salivation, high body temperature, weakness, flatulence, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, headache, fatigue and dehydration
However, there are a number of natural as well as unnatural methods by which we can prevent hangover. Some of them we will talk about here. It has been shown that by eating around 7 to 8 almonds before drinking an alcohol helps in the prevention of intoxication. By making use of bifidus powder and mixing it with water and then drinking prior to going to bed prevents the intoxication caused by alcohol. It consists of friendly bacteria whose purpose is to detoxify acetaldehyde which is the byproduct of alcoholic beverages and the main cause behind the occurrence of hangovers.
We can apply primrose oils to prevent hangovers. By avoiding a diet which is rich in saturated fats also lowers the level of ingredients present in alcoholic beverages which cause hangovers. Then there is a remedy which is widely used by a number of Africans. This remedy is having peanut and butter prior to drinking. We can also have pear extracts to avoid hangovers. Consuming alcohol at the right time is also important. For the entire woman who consume alcohols just prior to their menstruation cycle are more likely to have hangovers.
We can avoid the desire of drinking an alcohol by consuming a tangy tomato drink with half a lemon added to it. Then drinking around 2 to 3 liters of water prior to going to bed also prevents hangovers. Water acts as a hydrating agent and thus counteracts the dehydrating effect of alcohol. Then regular exercising will lead to the removal of all the toxins which are present inside our body. The enhanced circulation gets oxygen and blood to our oxygen-starved brain.
By eating apple and banana in the form of shake along with honey help in calming our stomach and act as a hydrating agent for our body. They are rich in potassium, electrolytes and magnesium which get removed from the body whenever we consume alcohol. We should eat a diet which is full of vitamin B. Chicken soup also prevents the hangover. Drinking ginger tea also acts as a remedy to this problem. Then we can have honey, lime, raw cabbage, lemon, peppermint, Sauerkraut juice, tomato juice, thyme and eating everything and anything rich in vitamin C. all these will help in preventing hangovers and also will act as a cure to all the kind of after effects felt due to this problem.
