Parental Tips on Teen Dating
Teenagers do not generally know what the difference between dating and sex is. They assume it to be the same and
linked, this all comes from what they read in magazines and watch on the television. Their parents thus should take care of this situation and should also clearly communicate their kids with the same. Parents generally just give teenagers a string of excuses on why not to be indulged with sex at this age, but never happen to communicate them directly the issues related. Many teenagers always ask for a reason, all that their parents need to do in this case is to firmly tell them to say no to sex, and if they ask for a reason, its better to give them one.
Many of them think that if they once have had sex with someone, they cannot refuse doing it again. You should make your child understand that even if they are dating someone they have the right to refuse to sex if they feel uneasy about it. You should tell them that how their first sex experience should be special and significant and should clear the myths that surround them. You should just ask them to keep safe in a relationship and make them understand how to make sensible choices.
Here are a few tips on how you can guide your child on Teen Dating:
1. You should tell you children that relationships are more than just having sex. This might not necessarily prevent your teenager from engaging themselves in sex, but then it’s also essential for parents to guide their children about sex and relationships for their safety.
2. You should also make your teen understand the difference between the feeling of love and the warning signs of abuse. Teenagers due to their lack of experience do not generally understand the feelings of possessiveness, jealousy and sexual pressure. They generally tend to regard them as love itself. It thus becomes important for parents to make them understand the difference between love and violence.
3. Make you kid understand that there is a difference between a mate trying to flatter you, and loving you. Its very easy for one to flatter you by giving you flowers, or taking you out for lunch, but it does not signify that he/ she loves you. He/ she might not be ready to take your responsibility when circumstances demand so.
