Use of Sex in continuity of a Relationship

One of the most regular questions which are asked to a doctor by a couple is how to strengthen their love life. This question arises in every relationship every now and then and people find it very hard to deal with it because they have no clue as to what is going on. People wonder about the exact chemistry between sex & relationship. They do not know about the importance of a healthy sexual life for a healthy relationship.

Unlike what we think, the path of a relationship is never linear; rather it is a zigzag path, you will not understand it unless you have seen it. There are a number of stages within a relationship which defines the future of our relationship. The first stage is the stage of lust and in this stage relationship is all about sex. Sexual life of the couple is at the peak in this stage and they value nothing other than this. This is healthy as the couples have sex on a frequent basis and this is very exciting for them.

There is a scientific reason behind this phenomenon, experts say that sex is the main reason due to which two people come together and starts living. Sex may not be everything for them but it plays an important part in their life and this is certain. Hence when they decide to pair up then there is a great cheer on both sides because they will have sex as many times as possible. People enjoy this part more because the sex is unique and new for them but after a time they enter into the second stage. The lust for sex does not last long and soon they start getting bored from sex only. The period of lust is only about 6 months and although people love each other but their sexual life starts slowing down.

Soon after they enter the second stage which is called a period of romantic love and this period determines the course of the relationship. In this period the couple starts to know each other at the most inner level because in the first period they had known each on a physical level only without any problem. In this stage too, they have sex frequently and on a regular basis but their sex life does not remain as it was in the first stage, and they start giving space to each other.
