As they say, first impression is a lasting impression. Quite literally, it’s true that the first thing anyone notices about you is your
face. Lot of things add to the pleasantness of a face, however, the most important being the texture and glow of the skin. It’s a known fact that that a clean skin accentuates the personality of an individual.
However, unlike their female counterparts, most men would never rate skin care too highly. As far as taking care of skin is concerned, men never seem to think beyond shaving. Besides, usually men do not have patience and time to invest in beauty care. But, with the environment around us becoming increasingly polluted with harmful toxins, awareness regarding skin related problems has increased among men too.
It’s essential to realize that skin care is not a task, but an integral part of one’s well being. It only requires a few minutes. As shaving is an everyday affair for men, its quite necessary that they keep certain things in their mind, to avoid any harm to facial skin. Wash your face with lukewarm water so that the hair become soft. After applying the shaving cream and formation of lather, allow it to settle in. Use a good razor preferably with a protective coating, to avoid any cuts or irritation. Its advisable to use a after shave cream or lotion than any liquid which contains alcohol.
Although most men would be too lazy for this but it’s advisable to use astringents and toners with glycolic or alpha hydroxyl acids. They help tone the face as the ingredient acids reduce the pore size and avoid ingrown hair. To cure dark circles under eyes, use pure vitamin E capsules. Break open a capsule and apply the liquid Vitamin E directly to the skin.
It’s a known fact that men have oilier skin than women. So, even when you are not shaving, it’s essential to wash your face with lukewarm water and a good cleanser to wipe off all the dust. This keeps the skin pores open and clean so that your skin looks healthy and shiny. Use a good soft scrub to remove dead cells and smoothen the skin surface. Also use a moisturizer, whenever you feel that your skin has dried up to avoid appearance of wrinkles. Try to use a mild soap that doesn’t dry your skin too much.
The harmful UV rays can damage anyone’s skin. So if you are an outdoors man, sunscreen becomes indispensable. Its ok if you do not wish to use the stuff meant for women, as lots of companies are now producing sun-protection lotion especially for men. An SPF factor of 15 is sufficient.
A balanced food diet and regular exercise also help skin regain the lost glow. So avoid fried food and increase the intake of fruits and vegetables, which contain anti-oxidants that can hold back skin damage. Skin care is not an overnight chore. So try to do as many things mentioned here regularly, if you want an ever-radiant and healthy skin.
