One of the most beautiful phases of a women’s life is when she is expecting. It is indeed very much required by a pregnant
woman to take proper care of her fitness as it also affects the health of the child in her womb. Doctors mainly suggest pregnant women to walk in order to maintain their general fitness, but now a day swimming has also been a suggestion that doctors give to pregnant women. Swimming is considered as a nominal exercise for maintain the general fitness of a pregnant women,

1. It is a low impact exercise and thus does not affect the muscles and joints much. The buoyant environment inside the water ensures that a very less stress is put on the joints, and thus this exercise is considered safe to be done by pregnant women.
2. It is a safe exercise as the chances of injury are minimal in this. As a person swims under water the buoyant force equates the body weight and thus ensures a safe and injury free exercise.
3. The benefits that a pregnant woman can get from Swimming are numerous. Swimming should be opted as both a prenatal and post natal exercise. The major benefits that swimming provides to pregnant women are:
3.1 It helps in ensuring an easy birth: while swimming all the muscles of our body are worked upon.
3.2 This helps in strengthening the muscles and also helps in making them more flexible. Thus as swimming helps in making the muscles more flexible, it ensures to have a normal delivery and also reduces any kinds of swelling that might occur in the woman’s legs after delivery.
3.3 Postnatal, swimming also helps in a faster recovery of the female from birth, as it helps in enhancing the blood circulation in her body.
3.4 Besides this swimming also helps in reducing the stress levels of pregnant women and also acts as a mood booster and helps in reducing their mood swings. Also it helps in reducing the postpartum depression.
4. It helps in reducing the chances of a cesarean section: This has been scientifically proved. Women who maintain a routine of their aerobic and swimming exercises have lower chances of facing a cesarean section. Swimming helps in reducing the labor period of a pregnant woman, thus reducing the pain they face during their delivery.
