Four Ways to Get Pregnant Fast
We live in a fast-paced world of fast food, fast cars, and quick turnaround. It is no wonder that women would want to know how to get pregnant in the shortest time possible. But, before you read the title of this article and run out quickly to start shopping for maternity wear and baby gadgets, let’s take some time to set some ground rules and assumptions. First, the information in this article is based on the assumption that you (or the female wanting to get pregnant) are a healthy, fertile woman. Second, the information in this article assumes that you have access to a sexual relationship with a healthy, sperm-generating man. Lastly, anyone who is trying to get pregnant and is having a hard time doing so should consult a physician or medical professional to make sure that there are no underlying reasons that are stopping a healthy pregnancy.
For those who are trying to get pregnant there is good news and bad news. The bad news is that for every woman there is a very small window during the month when a pregnancy can occur. The good news is that finding that small window is simple, and that the fun starts once you’ve found your window of opportunity.
Ideally, a woman looking to conceive wants to have sperm meet her egg when the sperm is the most viable. Sperm cells typically live for 3 to 5 days inside of a woman’s body, whereas an egg only has 24 to 48 hours to be fertilized by the sperm. The “trick” to getting pregnant quickly is to have sex at the right time, so that the sperm and egg meet. The best way to determine your ideal dates for conception is to consult a fertility or ovulation calendar. There are many different formats and types of ovulation calendars which are readily available for free and for fee on the web. A simple Google search can produce hundreds of options. There are even ovulation calendar apps for your phone. You will need to have a good idea of the start and end dates of your menstrual period, as these are the dates that the calendar will use to determine when you will ovulate each month.
Once you’ve found your window of opportunity and marked it on your calendar, the next steps are easy:
1. Have as much sex as you can tolerate during the week that includes three days before and after your ovulation date. For example, if your ovulation date is the 10th of the month, you will want to have sex often starting the seventh of the month until the thirteenth. You want to have as many sperm try to make contact with the egg as possible. To put it bluntly, your odds of pregnancy increase with the more sperm that make their way into your uterus.
2. Don’t force the issue. The best way to get pregnant is to not try. Yes, this may sound counterintuitive to the previous paragraph’s advice, but it really isn’t. Sex should be fun and playful. It should not be forced or calculated. The best way to get pregnant is to not think about getting pregnant (ask anyone who has had an unexpected pregnancy).
3. After sex, stay horizontal and relax. Do not get up and wash, go to the restroom, or do any activities that will make the hardworking sperm work against gravity. Relax and enjoy the after effects of trying to produce a child.
4. Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Your body is about to become home to a new living being for the next 40 weeks. You want to make that home as healthy and comfortable as possible. Eat a balanced diet. Take a multivitamin. Get plenty of rest. Stay away from stress. Stay away from alcohol. Create within your body a temple for your new baby to thrive.
Following these steps will not guarantee that you will get pregnant the next time you try, but will increase your chances. Unfortunately, only nature can create a baby and there may be other factors which may be affecting your ability to get pregnant. The key to remember is that getting pregnant is a great occasion, but so are the acts of sex with your partner and the anticipation of your new family.
